Service Description

The Closing of the Bones is a healing ceremony to honour a Rite of Passage - life, death - the closing of something or someone. It can be done at any time – even years – after the birth, or loss - because closure is not defined by 'time'. A Tea Ceremony (Tea or Cacao) prior to the wrapping, offers time to share the significance of what has come to a close. The Closing of the Bones is a transformative and, perhaps, emotional experience where the body is wrapped to metaphysically and physically represents a closing of the chapter in life. It’s a process of conscious connection to mind-body and your unfolding story.  The Closing of the Bones Ceremony is best when it is added to a beautiful massage experience, as the booking time for this experience does not include a bodywork, just a time to talk. For many years I knew about and wanted to offer Closing of the Bones to clients, but I felt uncertain due to the global 'cultural misappropriation' debate. In early 2022, I learnt this practice with birthwork educator and author, Jenny Blyth who's energy very much honours global cultural traditions based on the belief shared by Rachelle Garcia Seliga in 2020 who expressed "the physiological NEEDS of women in the childbearing continuum are the same. And therefore the CARE that women need is the SAME - no matter what land our ancestors belong to, no matter what land we call home". I have, since learning this ritual, allowed it to be woven into a massage when appropriate, but feel it deserves it's own extra time for women seeking out a way to 'honour the chapter' on their birthing journey. The pause is a gift of reconnection with your Self.  A time for stillness and deep healing.
